Holy Week at St. Paul’s

Come Worship with Us!

April 13-20

Soon, we will enter the most solemn and glorious week of the Christian year—Holy Week. This is the time when we walk with Jesus through His Passion, Death, and Resurrection, and I invite you to fully immerse yourself in these sacred liturgies:

Palm Sunday - April 13 Holy Eucharist 8:30am, 10:30am in the Church. We begin with shouts of “Hosanna!” as we process with palms, then turn our hearts toward the Cross.

Holy Monday - April 14 Noonday Prayer 12:05pm in the Chapel

Holy Tuesday - April 15 Noonday Prayer 12:05pm in the Chapel

Holy Wednesday - April 16 Tenebrae 6:00pm in the Church. Latin for darkness or shadows, this quiet service of contemplation includes readings, psalms and sung responses to the themes of Holy Week.

Maundy Thursday- April 17 Maundy Thursday Service 6:00pm in the Church. Given a new mandate to love as we have been loved by Christ, we gather to do the things Jesus did with his disciples. He ate a meal with them, served them, and instituted the practice of Holy Eucharist.

Good Friday - April 18 Good Friday Service 12:05pm in the Church. Called to bear witness, not to the death of one man, but to the salvation of all of humanity through the death and resurrection of Jesus, we gather for a solemn commemoration on this day to celebrate the passion of our Lord.

Easter Sunday - April 20 The Feast of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ 8:00am, 10:30am in the Church. Egg Hunt and Flowering of the Cross will be held between the services.

Each of these services offers a unique encounter with the living God, and I pray you will make every effort to be present as we journey together from the Cross to the Empty Tomb.

All are Welcome

With the vows and promises made at baptism, we commit our lives to the beliefs set forth in the Apostles’ Creed and how those beliefs are lived out. We commit to worshipping together, seeking and serving Christ in all persons, loving our neighbors as ourselves, striving for justice and peace, and respecting the dignity of every human being.

St. Paul’s is a home for everyone. We welcome all those who wish to join the sacramental life and leadership of this church regardless of age, race, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical ability,  citizenship, or marital status.

Whoever you are, and however you arrive, you are welcome here.

Grow in Faith

St. Paul’s enjoys active Christian Education and Youth programs, and a wide variety of lay ministries and organizations are open to you. On Sunday mornings and throughout the week you will have a chance to explore many opportunities for formation.

We celebrate Holy Eucharist each Sunday in the church, and offer various weekday activities throughout the week and season.

Journey Together

At St. Paul’s, we are all made better because of each other. We love Jesus, we worship, we enjoy life together, and we care for the world God loves and all our neighbors in it. We are rich in tradition, but not stuffy. We are deeply rooted, yet open-minded. We welcome all, but we will challenge you to grow. We are a community of disciples learning to follow Jesus together.

St. Paul’s Episcopal School

St. Paul’s Episcopal School (SPES) stands on the pillars of faith, hope, and love. Thus, SPES is committed to encouraging the development of each child to his/her fullest potential. While acquiring an academic foundation in a developmentally appropriate and religious environment, each child will learn to embrace and love him/herself. By experiencing the nurturing love of an attentive and dedicated staff, students will learn how to be responsive persons toward others and the world around them. In the Christian concept of love, SPES welcomes all faiths, races, backgrounds, and cultures.
